Operating principles
The rules for keeping Gymful OS useful, current, and actionable.
1. Strategy before output
Begin with the business problem and desired change. A website, campaign, portal, or print item is an intervention—not the strategy itself.
2. Systems over isolated deliverables
Design every intervention to strengthen the wider growth system. Name its inputs, dependencies, owner, and feedback loop.
3. Evidence over preference
Separate facts, assumptions, and taste. Use research, observed behaviour, performance data, and explicit constraints to resolve important choices.
4. Standards with judgment
Standards encode the best current default. They should accelerate good decisions, not replace professional judgment or conceal trade-offs.
5. Document decisions near the work
Record why significant choices were made while the context is still available. Link the decision to the affected standards, products, and client playbooks.
6. Make ownership visible
Every maintained process and product needs an accountable owner. “The team” is not an owner.
7. Improve the operating system
Delivery should produce two outputs: the client or product outcome, and better organisational knowledge for the next cycle.
